Dear Colleagues,
Orofacial pain represents a multifaceted clinical challenge, encompassing a wide spectrum of conditions that impact the daily lives of millions worldwide. It involves a variety of etiologies—ranging from temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and neuropathic pain to management. This special issue seeks to advance the understanding and management of orofacial pain by presenting cutting-edge research, innovative diagnostic methodologies, and evidence-based therapeutic strategies.
In recent years, the field of orofacial pain has witnessed remarkable progress through the integration of advanced imaging techniques, psychosocial assessments, and personalized medicine. These advancements have broadened our perspectives, emphasizing the importance of addressing not only the physical symptoms but also the psychological and social dimensions of the patient experience. Moreover, as healthcare systems evolve to embrace multidisciplinary frameworks, collaboration between dentists, neurologists, psychologists, and pain specialists is more critical than ever.
The contributions in this issue explore diverse aspects of orofacial pain, including the latest insights into pathophysiological mechanisms, emerging therapeutic modalities, and patient-centered care models. By bridging basic science with clinical application, these articles aim to enhance practitioners’ ability to deliver comprehensive, tailored care that improves patient outcomes and quality of life.
We hope this collection inspires further exploration and innovation in the field, fostering an integrated understanding of orofacial pain that benefits both clinicians and patients alike. We invite you to delve into these articles and join us in advancing the art and science of managing orofacial pain comprehensively.
